Tomomi ちゃん, the culinary chica

Tomomi, my best Japanese friend, says to me..."You haven't had your mochi for the new year???"...in tones of astonishment and with echoes of a plan in the making. And so it came about Tomomi was the usual super chef and whipped me up some traditional Japanese New Year's Day soup called "ozouni" that includes various things, but most importantly "mochi" which is like a giant-sized riceball that has no desire to be anything but a riceball, whether in your mouth or stomach....but it's mmmm mmmm good!!! She also prepared "gomoku gohan" which is basically rice with stuff mixed in it. You all might be smacking your lips about now...but don't rely on me to fix you any of this good stuff...I'll leave it all up to Tomomi, who never ceases to amaze me, and enjoy it all the more!!

Mi'ja querida,
I love those big chunks in the soup! What is the pinkish chunk? You take wonderful pictures! I think you should write a book.
Con cariño,
